Before there were guest rooms, there was a family connection to this island. Jack Usher purchased Southwest Caye in 1942, when coconuts were part of everyday life here. That connection is at the heart of Isla Marisol: a Belizean family island now shared with travelers who want to experience the reef.
From island home to island hospitality
Eddie Usher began redeveloping the property in 2000, and Isla Marisol welcomed its first guests on May 2, 2002. The setting remains central to the welcome: sea air, shared meals and days spent outdoors. Staying here means spending time on a family-owned island, with the reef shaping the rhythm of each day.
The reef shapes the experience
Days revolve around boat outings, shared meals and time outdoors. Guests come to dive, snorkel, fish and slow down, staying in beachfront cabanas or Reef Houses. This is relaxed island hospitality: the purpose is to connect with the place rather than reproduce a large mainland hotel.
